Language level of education and entrance exams
PROFICIENCY IN THE LANGUAGE OF EDUCATION
The language of instruction is Italian
1. An Italian language proficiency exam is required for admission (each university determines the date of the exam itself); in recent years the exam has been conducted online. In order to pass the exam, the applicant must be able to speak Italian at least at the A2 level. But it will be difficult to study later at this level, especially in the economic profile. There will also be difficulties in everyday communication.
We recommend making a decision on entering the university no later than January of the year in which you are entering, so that before moving to study in September you have at least 6 months to complete an intensive course in language schools or with tutors. It is realistic to be able to speak Italian at A2 level by the time you move.
Optimally - decide on a university degree a year before applying (for example, for school leavers - after receiving a certificate), in order to leave yourself a year to learn Italian.
The language of instruction is English
For admission to English-language programs, proof of passing the ENGLISH TOLC (a test developed in Italy for applicants to English-language programs) or SAT (an American test that assesses English proficiency at the applied level - one section is devoted to solving mathematical problems) is required. We assist our customers in registering for the ENGLISH TOLC and SAT..
There are no other entrance tests for admission to English programs.
ENTRANCE EXAMS (UNIVERSITIES)
There are 2 types of admission to Italian language programs (each program corresponds to one or the other type of admission):
1. Admission without taking the entrance exam (Tipo di accesso: Libero).
Apart from the Italian language proficiency exam, there are no other entrance exams. All applicants apply for admission with the appropriate documents. Priority of admission is according to the date of application. There is an admission plan, so for this type of admission, it is important not to miss the application start date, which is determined by each university.
2. Admission with entrance exam (Tipo di accesso: Numero programmato)
In addition to the Italian language proficiency exam, you must pass the TOLC entrance exam (in addition to the language proficiency, it determines the applicant's basic competencies in a particular field of knowledge, conducted online). The exam is not difficult, but a higher score is the basis for guaranteed admission to the list of enrolled applicants, especially for programs with a limited number of places. Admission occurs only after the official publication of the list.
More information about the TOLC exam, its structure, and how to prepare for it can be found here.
ENTRANCE EXAMS (ART ACADEMIES AND CONSERVATORIES)
In addition to the Italian language exam, all applicants to creative universities, instead of taking the TOLC exam, take a compulsory creative exam. This exam may be taken in person or online, at the discretion of the institution.
For Academies of Arts (visual arts) this exam usually consists of an interview with a demonstration of their works (portfolio), for Conservatories (musical arts) - an interview with a demonstration of performance skills (instrument or vocal).
Our company provides full support to the applicant in matters of entrance examinations (consultations, registration for the exam, submission of results to the secretariat) and controls the entire process of interaction between the applicant and the university.
