About the University
The University of Bari (Università degli Studi di Bari) is one of the most prestigious universities in Southern Italy and one of the largest universities in Italy, with about 60,000 students. The university is ranked 10th in the national ranking.
The University of Bari obtained its status in October 1924 and was formed on the basis of the ancient university schools of pharmacy and notary.
The teaching, research, and administrative buildings are located in different districts of the city of Bari. There are also two branch campuses in the cities of Taranto and Brindisi.
In addition to teaching, the university is also engaged in research at the doctoral level. The research centers of the University of Bari have international links with universities and other research centers around the world.
The city of Bari is a port city located on the Adriatic Sea in southern Italy. It is also the capital of the Puglia region and the center of the province of the same name. The number of inhabitants is 320 000.
Bari has a subtropical climate: warm and humid. In winter (January) the average temperature is 11 °C. In summer it is +30 °C.
The city is the second most important economic center of Southern Italy (after Naples). The economy is based on trade, transportation, and tourism.
